COURSES IN THIS SPECIALIZATION

This program consists of five lower-division online organizational leadership courses for a total of 15 credit hours.

  • ORG429 Ethics and Law in Organizations
    Students in this course examine legalities and ethics in the workplace and the role organizational leaders adopt in ethical behavior. Students will learn the basic frameworks of ethical transactions and legalities in organizational leadership. Students will establish a proficiency in critical thinking skills to identify and answer ethical and legal issues normally encountered in organizations.
  • ORG470* Leading Through Conflict Resolution
    This course revolves around identification and analysis of leadership strategies for dealing with both functional and dysfunctional conflict in the workplace. Included is a study of conflict management styles of avoidance, accommodation, collaboration, negotiation, mediation, and domination.
  • ORG405 Principles and Practices of Effective Leadership
    This course explores the various aspects of leadership. Students learn concepts such as leadership styles, effective leadership, diversity and best practices for motivating and influencing groups and individuals within organizations. Additional topics focus on application of effective leadership skills in relation to shaping culture and leading change. Prerequisite: ORG300
  • ORG423** Communication Strategies for Leaders
    This course provides a practical view of leadership communication strategies for transmitting, receiving, and understanding information in the workplace. Emphasis is on equipping leaders with the knowledge of how to overcome communication barriers by utilizing appropriate strategies and methods.
  • ORG400 Leading Teams in Organizations
    This course examines the development, organization, and leadership of teams in both traditional and virtual settings, while also considering the impact globalization has on the importance of effective team participation and leadership. This course is designed to facilitate skill development and a working knowledge of and experience in team creation, leading teams, and individual roles within the team.
