CSU Global alum Deirdre Jonker recently developed and released Comspeare, an app that helps people remain mindful, focused, and relaxed.

Graduating in 2021 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Deirdre was also honored by being chosen as the Spring 2021 Commencement Student Speaker. She is about to become a repeat CSU Global alum as she completes her Master’s in Information Technology Management

After trying a number of coping methods, including prescription medications and mindfulness techniques, and still not seeing results, Deirdre was inspired to find a way to help herself and others cope with difficult situations.

When developing the app, Deirdre looked to GABA (gamma-Aminobutyric acid), a naturally occurring amino acid that works as a neurotransmitter in the brain. GABA has also been linked to lower stress levels. The Comspeare app plays soft vibrations, creating the sound of 40Hz GABA waves. These sound waves mimic the GABA released by our bodies, helping the user decrease their nervousness and anxiety.

Comspeare is free to download from the Google Play app store. To learn more, visit https://comspeare.webnode.com
